The Lorentz Casimir Lyceum offers a special teaching program for highly intelligent and gifted students in the substructure: BrainSport Junior. This programme focuses on autonomy, additional challenge and creative thinking.
The pupils work with the learning line Big History, in which they investigate the development of the universe and humanity . . . from the Big Bang to the present. They are introduced to fields outside the standard curriculum, such as astronomy, philosophy, cultural sciences and psychology.
The lessons of BrainSport Junior take place during regular classes. Selected students miss one or two ordinary lessons every week. In addition, guest classes and excursions outside school are regularly organised so that students can deepen their knowledge and skills.
Vwo students are selected for this program by means of the Intelligence Structure Test tested by the Center for Knowledge Research.
The programme is co-ordinated by our highly gifted coordinator Ms Sonja van Rüt Land. For questions you can contact her via: land.s@lcl.nl.
