Vwo is the abbreviation that stands for preparatory scientific education. Within the vwo there is an atheneum and a gymnasium department. The difference between these is the classical languages, which are not offered on the atheneum.
With a vwo advice you can start in the junior class in the atheneum bridge class. If you have a HAVO/VWO advice and are not sure if the atheneum is the right choice for you, you can start in the two-year havo/VWO bridge class. The lessons start at havo level and that is gradually built up to vwo level. So after the first year you don't have to opt for 2 havo or 2 vwo, but you still have a year to find out what you're up to. After the 2nd year you continue in 3 havo or 3 vwo.
Besides our havo and gymnasium we have a nice atheneum education. As you can read on this page, you can choose many different subjects with atheneum. We are proud of our atheneum department with good results, many inspired teachers with all a 1st or 2nd degree degree. We have filled out all the vacancies at the moment, so there are few lessons. In addition, there are many fun activities, for example the sports interlyceal and artistic interlylyceal between different lyceums in the Netherlands.
Are you interested in math as a student? Then it is good for you to know that the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum pays special attention to the exact, mathematical subjects, such as mathematics A/B, mathematics D, physics, chemistry, computer science.
We offer extra challenge and guidance for these students, both in the lower and upper education. We guide students in their executive functions, such as learning to learn to drive and self-direction to ensure that pupils have an adequate learning and working attitude.
From the fourth year you start within the chosen profile. Our school dean will help you with your orientation to study and occupation. This orientation starts in class 3 and allows you to make a responsible choice: both for the profile and the follow-up education. The course package depends on the profile choice. After the profile choices you will find yourself in new composite classes. We therefore think it is important that you get to know each other immediately during an introduction day in Aquabest. It will take place on a Friday in the first weeks of school.
Our school focuses on the individual talent development of our students. That is why we participate in olympiads: national competitions for havo- and vwo-schollen in the fields of chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics and geography. Students taking part in the course will be given the opportunity to study the subject in greater depth. Then they can spread their talents in the olympiad and continue a round.
Lorentz Casimir Lyceum is an Olympiad school and has the Olympiad brand. This shows that the Olympics at our school are widely worn and not dependent on one teacher.
Did you know that at our school you can have an extra language put on your diploma? You may not follow the lessons at the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum, but we do facilitate the possibility that it will eventually be a grade on your diploma. Think Spanish, Italian, Russian, Polish.
