Students from our FIRST LEGO League (FLL) and FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) got acquainted with a special combination of technique, culture and adventure on Bonaire. Instead of the familiar classrooms in Eindhoven, they stood between the palm trees and the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. A week in which strong technical education, international exchange and island experience come together, thanks to the collaboration with the Bonaire School Community (SGB).
Build and program robots under the sun
The students worked intensively on challenging assignments within the FLL and FTC. They developed their technical skills, learned to work together and solved problems with the Caribbean around the corner! A unique way to experience technical education.
Working with Bonairian Students
During this week, students from both schools worked together in different teams. For example, 4 FLL teams participated with junior, second and third graders, 3 FTA teams with fourth graders and 3 FLL teams from the International Switching Class. A beautiful mix of talents, backgrounds and perspectives that made the week extra valuable.
The final: collaboration and innovation
The highlight of the week was the grand finale, in which teams showed their robotic performance. It was not just about technology, but mainly about collaboration, perseverance and creativity.
Discover Bonaire
Besides the hard work, there was also time to explore the island. Our students stayed with host families, visited the salt pier and slave houses, ventured windsurfing, explored the mangrove and of course enjoyed the beautiful beaches. A week of impressions they won't soon forget.
