Glad you're
here!

Welcome!

Our school is surrounded by fields and there is plenty of room for sports and recreation. However, our school is also in the middle of Eindhoven, in the Brainport region, where the field of technology and design are developing all the time. As an official Brainport school, we offer our pupils subjects and projects that are linked to the Brainport themes.

We are also the only secondary school in Eindhoven to include design in the curriculum, in both lower and upper secondary classes. In order to prepare our pupils to be world citizens, we help them be more aware of what is happening in the world. Quest is a good example of this. From the First Lego League to music, from maths to drama, from debate clubs to robotics, there are so many ways to get involved in more than just lessons! Our aim is not only for you to get to know yourself better but also to understand the world around you better.

Here at the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum, our goal is to work with you to help you develop and fully enjoy and make the most of your time here at secondary school. Our school provides a safe and stimulating atmosphere, a place where you can feel welcome, where everyone feels respected and appreciated for their individuality and talents.

Academic success is, of course, also important. Our school consistently scores well above the national average in the final exams for both have and vwo. There is a very good chance that you will complete your secondary education successfully here at the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum.

We'll help you!

We'll help you get used to your new school. Your mentor is your confidant you can always contact. Your class also has two minimentors. Those are class 4 students who show you how to get to school. You can ask them anything you want! If you find some classes difficult, you can get extra help. We have help lessons. French, English, Dutch, mathematics and biology. You can also get help with distress or social emotional problems.

Our school also offers you extras such as:

  • Cambridge Pro and strengthens French;
  • BrainSport junior; a high-skill learning line;
  • Drawing and computer science as an examination course;
  • First Lego League;
  • Masterclasses at Eindhoven University of Technology.

Quest

Quest is a course only given at the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum. During these lessons you will learn how to work together, research, present and evaluate. You work in groups on different projects. In these projects you will start with a current or relevant topic and are involved in several subjects. You learn to deal with digital technology in our society in this field and we pay attention to citizenship formation. You also learn to work on your research skills. A guest lesson, visiting a company or a workshop by an external expert make sure that you learn what the world looks like outside the school. Each project ends with a final presentation. Your parents, brothers, sisters and other interested parties are all welcome to our school. Of course you will be accompanied by your Quest teacher and your mentor in the classes and during the presentation.

What do we think is important at the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum?

  • That there is a safe school climate;
  • That each pupil is seen and known;
  • That differences between pupils are recognised and understood;
  • That you are challenged on your own level;
  • That you will have the opportunity to develop your talents to the maximum;
  • That you are well supervised in your learning process.

Come meet me!

Would you like to come and take a look at us? Or would you like to come to an information meeting with your parents/carers? We have made an overview for school year 2023-2024.

Additional information and our spearheads

45 minutes grid

In school year 2022-2023 we introduced the 45 minute schedule in our lesson table. And I like that. Students have more free time at the end of the day!

Key policy

On an annual basis there are (including the key weeks) up to 6 keys for a 1- or 2-hour compartment, 8 keys for a 3-hour compartment, 10 keys for a 4-hour compartment. The 4 test weeks take place in the week before a school holiday.

Spearheads

A number of spearheads within our school we want to mention here extra (there are more of course).

  • New school building in our backyard in 2024 (until then we will continue to teach in the old building)
  • Two-year-old havo/vwo junior
  • One gymnasium, from junior high.
  • Good apprenticeship guidance
  • Use of laptops in addition to using books (from school year 2023-2024)
  • The emphasis on our science subjects for students interested in mathematics
