Havo vwo seventh grade: a start full of possibilities

The transition from primary school to high school is big. That's why you start at the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum in a Havo vwo high school, the 2-year-old Havo/Vwo class, in which you don't have to choose between havo and vwo. You got an extra year to figure out what level really suits you. So you start without unnecessary pressure and with clear guidance.

In the first year you get to know the school, build on study skills and experience the way you work in secondary education. Your mentor and teachers follow your development, provide targeted feedback and help to support your choices. You notice that the combination of structure, personal attention and space to try gives you quick confidence.

Learning to write in the classroom

An extra year to discover and grow

In the 2-year havo/vwo-class you explore a wide package: languages, mathematics, human and social subjects, science, art, sport and digital skills. You practice where you need to and you take extra challenge if you go faster. This way you show what you can do and grow at your own pace. At the end of this year, you have a clear picture of your strengths and what you need to move forward.

You learn to plan, collaborate, reflect and present. You work on assignments that link to the real world, so that the subject becomes meaningful. By regularly looking back on your approach, you discover what works and where to adjust. That gives peace and quiet.

Personal guidance and clear structure

You get a permanent mentor to show you around and discuss your progress with you and your parents. In addition, specialist teachers and mini-mentors are ready to help you with professional content, organisation and motivation. If you get stuck, you'll get additional explanations or support. If you need more, you get floor assignments, plus activities or participation in projects outside of class.

The structure is clear: you plan your work, you divide tasks in steps and you use feedback to improve. So you build a workable routine that takes you to havo or vwo.

A modern learning environment for havo and vwo

You will learn in bright rooms, spacious learning areas and well equipped labs. The environment invites you to cooperate, research and work independently. As a Brainport school, LCL connects courses with current themes such as technology, sustainability and innovation. You immediately see how knowledge and skills outside the classroom are relevant.

You will get to know different types of work: Classical explanations, practical assignments, research questions and presentations. That variety keeps you sharp and helps you discover where your talents lie.

After seventh grade: an extra year for your choice

The distinguishing feature of LCL is that after one year you still do not have to choose permanently. You first walk through an extra junior year in which you grow further and it becomes clear which level suits you. Only then will you make the switch to havo or vwo.

You decide in consultation with your mentor, teachers and parents. You use numbers, commitment, growth and motivation as a basis. So you continue to the right route with conviction and a solid base.

The havo vwo junior at LCL gives you time, guidance and space to discover which level suits you. You learn to work effectively, you develop your talents and you create your choice based on growth and results. With an additional base year before the final choice for Havo or vwo you start without unnecessary pressure and with perspective.
