Admission of havo vwo seventh grade: This is how it works

Start in seventh grade

The transition from primary school to secondary school is an important step. At the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum in Eindhoven you get the space to develop yourself, to discover new interests and to learn at your own level.

The LCL offers several bridge classes: a Havo Bridge Class, a two-year-old havo/vwo class, an atheneum bridge class, a gymnasium bridge class and GymnasiumPlus. Which grade suits you, depends mainly on the final school advice of the primary school and your educational needs.

Do you have at least a HAVO or VWO advice? Then you can register for one of the bridge classes of the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum. On this page you can read which admission requirements apply, how the registration is done and how you can already get to know our school.

Which junior suits you?

At the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum there are several possibilities to start. For example, there is always a junior grade that fits in with your school advice, interests and way of learning.

Havo Bridge Class

With a Havo advice you can start in the Havo Bridge Class. These classes are deliberately kept small, so that teachers have sufficient attention to each student.

Two-year-old havo/vwo-class

Do you have any advice? Then you can choose the Havo Bridge Class or the two-year-old Havo/Vwo Class. In this class the lessons begin at the havo level and gradually work towards the vwo level.

After the first year you do not have to make a final choice between Havo and Vwo. You get an extra year to find out which level suits you best. Then you continue to 3 havo or 3 atheneum.

Athens Bridge Class

With a vwo advice you can opt for the atheneum bridge class. This class is intended for students who want to follow vwo but do not want to do classical languages.

Gymnasium Bridge Class

Do you have vwo advice and interest in antiquity, languages and classic stories? Then you can choose the gymnasium bridge class. You'll get Latin from seventh grade. In class 2 there will be Greek.

GymnasiumPlus

GymnasiumPlus is intended for highly intelligent or gifted students who need additional challenges. You work on the regular subject at a higher rate and therefore leave time for project education.

You also get programming and philosophy. In order to qualify for GymnasiumPlus, you need an explanation of gift. You can also do an IST test at the LCL.

What are the admission requirements?

The most important condition for admission to junior level is the final school advice of the primary school. Based on this advice, you can choose from the following options:

  • With a Havo advice you can opt for the Havo Bridge Class.
  • With a HAVO/VWO advice you can opt for the Havo Bridge Class or the two-year-old Havo/VWO Class.
  • With a vwo advice you can choose the atheneum bridge class, gymnasium bridge class or two-year-old havo/vwo class.
  • With a vwo advice and a need for extra challenge, you can consider GymnasiumPlus.

In addition, for GymnasiumPlus, you need a recent statement of high quality or a LCL IST test.

The LCL does not work with a general level test to determine whether to follow havo or vwo. The primary school advice is the starting point for choosing your junior year.

Subscribe to the Secondary Class

The application for the secondary school is made through the central registration procedure in the Eindhoven region. Together with your parent (s) or caregiver (s) you register digitally via the parent portal of LDOS.

The primary school and the parents/carers receive information about the registration procedure and associated login data. During the central registration week you will pass on your preferences for secondary schools and bridge classes.

When there is more interest than available places, the allocation takes place via the central system of the collaboration Eindhoven-Kempenland.

The exact login dates may vary per school year. Therefore, always check the current information on the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum website or ask your primary school to explain the application procedure.

What happens after registration?

After the central allocation you will receive a message about the school where you were placed. New students are then invited to a welcome meeting at the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum.

During this conversation, you can get to know the school and ask questions together with your parent or carer. Also discuss practical information about your start at school.

Do you need extra support? Then you can contact the support coordinator. Together we discuss which guidance is needed and whether the LCL can join.

Get to know the LCL

Choosing a school makes it easier to experience the atmosphere. This is why the LCL organises several introductory moments for pupils from the 7th and 8th grade.

For example, you can participate in:

  • information evenings for pupils and parents;
  • an LCL Experience with short lessons;
  • the annual Open Day;
  • LCL Plus for students with a vwo pre-advisation looking for additional challenges;
  • an extra evening of information about gymnasium and GymnasiumPlus.

During an introduction moment you can view the building, talk to teachers and students and discover more about the lessons and guidance. This gives you a better view of the school and you can experience whether the LCL suits you.

Do you have a question about getting acquainted? Then you can contact the LCL via kennismaken@lcl.nl.

Guidance in junior high

At the start of high school you will be accompanied by a mentor. The mentor is your permanent point of contact and helps you to feel at home soon at school.

In addition, every junior has two minimentors. These are class 4 students who can show you around the school and help you with practical questions.

Do you find certain subjects difficult? Then you can take extra help lessons for Dutch, English, French, mathematics and biology. The LCL also provides guidance in case of distress and social emotional problems.

This way you get support when needed and learn to work more and more independently.

Admission is mainly determined by Group 8, the recent report and an introductory meeting. In case of uncertainty, we plan a short test or conversation to determine the best learning path "Havo" or "Vwo."
Not always. We only use keys or level tests if advice and figures are not unambiguous. These tests help us to see which level and which support suits you for a successful start.
Login can be done via the online registration form on our website or by contacting the administration. Make sure you have school advice and recent reports ready for quick handling.
Looking from vmbo to havo We'll get together whatever extra guidance is needed. We discuss steps, possible support routes and provide a plan to ensure the transition is safe and viable.
Sure. You are welcome on open days, walking days and tours in our green location. Please contact us to make an appointment and to experience the atmosphere.
